The restaurant serves hot and cold meals, sandwiches, salads, snacks and speciality coffees. We cook 90% of our food from fresh in our own kitchens. We use low calorie ingredients where possible. Healthy options and a limited choice of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, lactose free, halal and kosher options are available on the menu.

Inside the restaurant, there's a snack machine containing crisps chocolate and sweets. There’s also a vending machine containing main meals, fresh fruit and yoghurt.
A hot drinks machines is available in the A&E department. There are also cold drink machines all around the hospital. Ask staff to point you in the direction of the nearest one.

You can find baby changing facilities in our unisex toilets on the ground floor. Ask staff to point you to the nearest one.
There’s a play area inside the Children and Young People’s Ward for hospital inpatients. There’s also a play area for children visiting the Children’s Outpatient Department.
Free wifi is available throughout the hospital. If you’re an inpatient you will not be able to stream videos or make video calls on hospital wards. This is only possible in public waiting areas. To connect, choose NHS Wi-Fi in your network settings. Read our wifi FAQs to find out more.

If you’re staying in hospital you can order 3 meals a day plus snacks. Healthy options and a choice of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, lactose free, halal and kosher options are on the menu. Don’t worry if you miss a meal, you can request snacks at any time.

You’ll have access to a bedside TV system called SPARK TSL. Through this you can access the following free services without the need to register:

Radio Haven is one of the longest running hospital radio stations in the country. All the presenters and staff are volunteers. You can request songs by messaging their Facebook page. There's also a request box on the reception desk at the old main entrance.
Hospital chaplains are available 24 hours a day. They provide spiritual support to people of all faiths and beliefs. You do not need to be religious or attend church to receive help from our chaplains.
You can call 01946 693181 at any time and ask for the on-call chaplain, or you can ask ward staff to put you in touch.
If you’d like to talk to someone from your own faith community our chaplain can arrange this for you. Your own priest, imam or minister can also visit you in hospital.
The team can also offer:
- Bibles and other religious and prayer resources
- holy communion
- anointing
- baptism

Available 24 hours a day to people of all faiths and none. You do not need to be religious to use the chapel. It is a quiet space for reflection, meditation and prayer.
If the chapel door is locked, contact a member of staff and they’ll open it for you. There are occasional services at festival times. There’s also memorial service in November to remember babies and children who have died.

This is a comfy place for you to wait for your medication letters or transport home. The lounge has a dedicated nursing team who are there to look after you.

There’s a courtyard with seating area between our restaurant and cafe on the ground floor.
West Cumberland Hospital is a smoke free site. This means there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the property. This includes outside entrances and in our car parks and grounds. The smoking ban applies to everyone.
If you are an inpatient, you can get a temporary nicotine replacement. You can also use e-cigarettes and vapes outside the hospital, if you stand 10 metres away from the building.
