We are very excited to announce that we are now ready to start building the new £15m endoscopy unit at the Cumberland infirmary.

In order to start the work we need to make some changes to our car parking arrangements.

From Wednesday the 29th May the large car park to the left  (car park B) as you drive up the site will be changed from a staff car park into a public carpark. The number of public car parking spaces in the main car park on the right (car park A1) as you come into the site will be decreased.

Both the main car park and the new public car park will temporarily be pay and display from Wednesday 29th May. You will need to pay for a ticket and display it in your windscreen. Should appointments overrun you are able to extend car parking tickets through an app on your phone.

Pay and display is a temporary measure while we install automatic number plate recognition technology. You can find out more about this on our parking pages (see drop down Parking update).

There will be clear signage helping guide you to the correct car park and there will be staff on the ground to assist.

Please see the map for more details.

While the build is being undertaken we have taken steps to maintain car parking capacity and the Trust has gone to considerable lengths to make sure that there is no overall loss of parking. Space allocation has been adjusted to retain the balance of staff and patient/visitor parking.

Once the build and the car parking reconfiguration is complete, there will be at least 30 more spaces across the whole site.

Please allow plenty of time before your appointment and consider using public transport or parking off site and walking if you are able. Thank you for your understanding while we undertake this important work.
