Midwife Sheryl Turner heaped praise on her colleagues after a recent emotional event on her ward.
She said: “The maternity team at NCIC is brilliant and I am very lucky to have the colleagues I do.
“We can often work with high pressures but during difficult times I have been blown away by the support, kindness and compassion shown towards me.
“We always ensure that each one of us is doing OK.
“I usually work night shifts on delivery suite and maternity ward but during COVID-19 I have been working predominantly within the Day Assessment Unit due to limited childcare.
“The girls in DAU have welcomed me and made me feel part of the team. Their smiles during this time have been a welcome relief.
“At such worrying times for pregnant women and their families I know that each and every one of my colleagues across the whole maternity service does their upmost to make their experience as positive as possible.
“The women in our care have been extremely understanding to the changes we have had to make during this time and I could not feel more proud to be a midwife.
“I feel exceptionally lucky to do the job I do.”
