Equipment bought from the kind donations from the public have been delivered to teams and services across the Trust.
Around £32,000 has been spent on upgrading and replacing existing facilities where needed including the purchase of kettles, water filters, fridges, microwaves, coffee machines and cutlery sets and the installations of water boilers into rest rooms.
The items were delivered as part of the Trust’s festival of thanks and wellbeing and staff shared their thanks and some photos of their new equipment.
Deliveries included:
Fridges to services in the Cumberland Infirmary and Workington Community Hospital, microwaves to Cleator Moor Health centre and Maryport Community Hospital, Coffee machines to 22 teams including those that work in Furness General Hospital, Penrith Hospital, Hilltop Heights and West Cumberland Hospital, cutlery to 25 teams including those in the Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland hospital, Workington Community Hospital, Reiver House & Maryport Community Hospital.
Since April the Trust’s ‘Just Giving’ Page received a staggering £61k from a range of generous donations from both the public and staff of North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). These funds will join the money from the national ‘NHS Charities Together’ which has so far donated £127K to the Trust to use for the benefit of staff welfare. After seeking the views of staff from across the whole of the Trust, it was clear that outdoor sheltered seating areas and an upgrade of existing facilities at Trust sites were the priorities.
Dave Waddington, Staff Chair at NCIC said:
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated money to the Trust, it will make such a difference to our staff and teams. I’m really pleased to see that the funds are going towards improving provisions for staff, this will offer a much needed boost to staff after a very difficult few months as well as offer a long term solution for break areas”.
In the next stage £50k of the fund has been set aside for improvements to outdoor seating areas across all Trust hospital sites; the work is scheduled to take place between October – December 2020. The Trust is keen to ensure staff have dedicated areas to go which can be used by everyone during down time.
This will offer staff a much improved environment in which to take their well-deserved breaks.
