On Thursday 30th April at 8pm staff from across services in North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust applauded all other key workers and those who are staying at home. As the applause ended staff joined together to sing Happy Birthday to Colonel Tom who has raised millions of pounds for the NHS nationally.
Anna Stabler said: “We are so very grateful to everyone who has sent their best wishes to our staff and who stand on their doorsteps every week and thank us. Tonight we felt it was important to say thank you sincerely to all other key workers and to those who have stayed at home to protect the NHS. The whole nation is working together to make sure that the NHS is not overwhelmed, and we thank you form the bottom of our hearts.”
Messages of thanks were beamed onto the Cumberland Infirmary along with a happy birthday to Colonel Tom for his 100th birthday.
“Colonel Tom is now without doubt a national treasure and he has inspired so many people. The money he has raised for NHS Charities together will make a huge difference to the NHS nationally and this Trust will also benefit from the money he has raised. We, along with the rest of the NHS, are enormously grateful and humbled by his actions and we expressed that this evening by singing happy birthday to him.”
Strict social distance guidance was followed throughout the applause and the singing of ‘Happy Birthday.’
Across the Trust teams and services have been sharing the salutes to Colonel Tom.
