As high winds are experienced across Cumbria today, some of our services are being affected by Storm Éowyn:

  • Patients are asked not to park their cars at Hilltop Heights in Carlisle if they are attending an appointment today. Patients should park at the bottom of the hill – or elsewhere – and make their way safely up to the building. The force of the wind means it is not safe for vehicles.
  • Patients who have a physiotherapy appointment at the Sands Centre in Carlisle should not attend their appointment today, as the centre has closed due to the adverse weather. Physiotherapists will be in touch with patients who have appointments today, and next week, by phone to offer telephone consultations.
  • Cumbria Sexual Health Services has also closed its Solway Clinic at Hilltop Heights in Carlisle. All patients due to be seen today will be notified by a phone call.
  • People should avoid the Pillars car park area at Cumberland Infirmary at this time due to dislodged tiles and flying debris. There will be a cordon at the Pillars entrance for safety of pedestrians.
  • There are a number of trees and branches down in the car park at West Cumberland Hospital, people are arriving on site to deal with the issue. Please avoid parking near trees and use alternate car parks where possible.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Follow Cumbria Police for advice before travelling, and only travel where absolutely necessary and safe to do so.
