Please note that we are not able to dispense medicines from prescriptions written by your GP. These must be taken to a local community pharmacy.
Outpatients
If you’ve been given a prescription by your consultant or other health professional at Cumberland Infirmary, you can collect this from the hospital pharmacy. You can find directions and opening times below.
Prescriptions for outpatients at West Cumberland Hospital will be brought directly to the clinic areas.
Inpatients
The clinical pharmacy team work on the wards alongside the doctors and nurses to make sure you get the medicines you need while you’re in hospital. If you need medication as part of your treatment, the pharmacy team will help organise this.
We follow the North of Tyne, Gateshead and North Cumbria Area Prescribing Committee Formulary. This formulary contains a list of medicines approved for use in NHS organisations in:
- north Cumbria
- Newcastle
- north Tyneside
- Northumberland
- Gateshead
You can find out more about the formulary and how it works on their website northoftyneandgatesheadformulary.nhs.uk.
